Here at Tattoosday UK, we do love a good art exhibit. Anything that will show off the amazing art being produced right now, anything that will make you think and anything that will inspire you is more than worthy of being seen by hundreds, if not thousands, of people. This new exhibit looks like it’ll do all three!
Sharon Silverman, an artist working in Massachusetts, is collecting artwork for a new exhibit called ‘The Face of Jesus’. The exhibit will be in Massachusetts from March 2011, and will feature artists from around the world depicting their vision of Jesus Christ. Speaking to me about the exhibit, Sharon said,
“I have invited painters, photographers, graffiti artists, tattoo artists, mixed media / collage artists etc… to send in a creative interpretation of Jesus’ Face. I’m not interested in Jesus humor or shock art…there’s plenty of that out there and besides…that is not my vision for the Show. I am chronicling the Face of Jesus through the eyes of contemporary artists rather than the iconic images everyone is so familiar with.”
If you’d like to be involved, you also have a chance right now to submit something to the show. You don’t have to have yourself a name in the arts world already- if your work is good enough, then that should do it! Here’s some more info on that:
“If artists don’t want me to keep their originals, I ask them to send in professional quality photos or prints. Artists should include their name, address and contact info. All participating artists will receive documentation both online and through the mail. I am hoping for many tattoo artists to participate because their art is interesting and current.”
To submit your work for the exhibit, you can send anything in to The Face of Jesus – An International MailArt Gallery Show, P.O. Box. 1212, Haverhill, MA 01831 USA
If you’re submitting, good luck!
Update: Sharon has also included this in our comments section:
Google Artist Sharon Silverman and it will take you to my IUOMA website page. I have posted many pieces of art that artists have sent me from around the world for this show.
I am very interested in showing talented tattoo / graffiti artists in the Exhibition. Artists may show up to 4 pieces of their work. All work must be received by the end of February 2011.
Thanks very much, Sharon!
