Two of the oldest arts in the world are tattoos and music. Yet, it’s not very often, despite how long they’ve both been around, that someone can come along and combine the two in a really outstanding way. Dmitry Morozov has recently managed such a feat, though, with his project called Reading My Body. This project has never been seen before, and it’s truly amazing.
The project involves a tattoo on his arm, and a machine that can ‘read’ the lines on it. Admittedly, the tattoo isn’t really spectacular to see, and the music isn’t great either, but this could be the start of something really cool. Imagine how great it would be for those people who like to bore us with their song lyric tattoos if they could whip out a machine that plays the song! That would be so much more entertaining!
From Dmitry’s website:
this is a special instrument that combines human body and robotic system into a single entity that is designed to automate creative process in an attempt to represent the artist and his instrument as a creative hybrid. The device consists of a railing with comfortable hand holders and two parallel, but offset from each other black lines’ sensors that move along the arm using a stepper motor. It is equipped with a 3-dimensional Wii remote controller that uses the OSC protocol in order to give a possibility of additional expression achieved by moving hand in space.
I think it’s amazing when people have the creative capacity to be able to think these things up and make you feel inspired. If you have any other videos you’ve seen like this, or a project of your own, feel free to let us know!
